#AAPL traded to a new high today and tomorrow Amazon.com Inc is expected to report a jump in fourth-quarter revenue as shoppers continued to buy more during the holiday season and due to a surge in demand for its cloud business.
The U.S. Commerce Department in its first estimate of fourth-quarter GDP is expected to report that the country’s economy expanded at a 2.1% annualized rate. In the final estimate of the third quarter, GDP rose at a rate of 2.1%. Separately, a report from the Labor Department will likely show initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted 215,000 for the week ended Jan. 25.
